# Paypal (using Payout API)

Yuko allows you to pay affiliates securely using PayPal's Payouts, enabling fast, automated, and direct cash payments straight to your affiliates' PayPal accounts.

***

### Prerequisites

Before connecting PayPal to Yuko, make sure you have:

* A **PayPal Business account**
* The **Payouts feature is enabled** on your account. If it isn't active, contact PayPal support to request access
* Access to the **PayPal Developer Portal**

#### Step 1 — Enable Payouts in PayPal

* Log in to your PayPal account at <https://developer.paypal.com/>
* Go to **My Account → Account Settings → Permissions**
* Find **Payouts** and enable it
* You will see a “**Contact Us**” option in the Live column (as shown in the screenshot)\
Click on Contact Us and raise a request with PayPal support to enable Payouts for your live account<br>

\
Once PayPal approves this request, the Payouts feature will be activated for your live environment.

### Step 2 — Create a PayPal App

1. Go to the [PayPal Developer Portal](https://developer.paypal.com/dashboard/)
2. Navigate to **Apps & Credentials**
3. Make sure you are in **Live** mode (not Sandbox)
4. Click **Create App**
5. Enter an app name (e.g., *Yuko Payouts*)
6. Under **App Type**, select **Merchant**
7. Click **Create App**
8. Copy the **Client ID** and **Secret.** You'll need these in the next step.

***

### Step 3 — Connect PayPal in Yuko

1. In your Yuko dashboard, go to **Payouts → Payment Methods**
2. Select **PayPal (Payout API),** and enable the option.&#x20;
3. Paste your **Client ID** and **Client Secret** from the PayPal Developer Portal
4. Click **Save**

Yuko will verify the credentials and activate PayPal as a payout method.

### How It Works After Setup

Once connected:

* When you approve a payout in Yuko, the funds are sent **directly to the affiliate's PayPal email address**
* Payouts are processed in the currency configured in your Yuko payout settings

> **Important:** **Affiliates** must enter their PayPal email address in their **Affiliate Portal → Settings** before you can pay them via PayPal. PayPal will only appear as a payment option for a specific affiliate once they have added their email. Make sure you communicate this to your affiliates before processing payouts.

***

### Troubleshooting

**Payouts option not visible in PayPal:** Your account may not have the Payouts feature enabled. Contact PayPal Business support and request Payout API access.

**Invalid credentials error in Yuko:** Make sure you copied the credentials from **Live** mode in the PayPal Developer Portal, not Sandbox.

**Affiliate didn't receive payment:** Confirm the affiliate's payout email in Yuko matches their active PayPal account email.

> **Note:** PayPal may charge transaction fees for mass payouts depending on your account plan and region. Check your PayPal agreement for applicable fees.
