# Overview

## What is Yuko?

Yuko is an affiliate marketing platform built for Shopify stores. It lets you create and run a fully branded affiliate program, where partners, influencers, and customers promote your products in exchange for a commission on every sale they drive.

Instead of paying upfront for ads with uncertain returns, affiliate marketing is purely pay-for-performance. You only pay when a sale happens.

### How Yuko Works

Yuko connects three things: your Shopify store, your affiliates, and your customers.

Here's the full picture:

1. **You create a program** — Set your commission rate, define your terms, and publish a signup page. This takes less than 10 minutes.
2. **Affiliates apply** — Anyone can apply through your public signup link. You review and approve them from the Yuko dashboard.
3. **Affiliates promote** — Each approved affiliate gets a unique referral link and/or discount code they share with their audience.
4. **A customer buys** — When someone clicks an affiliate's link and makes a purchase, Yuko automatically attributes the sale and calculates the commission.
5. **Commission is recorded** — The affiliate's earnings appear in their portal. You review and approve payouts on your schedule.

***

#### Key Concepts

**Affiliate**

A person or business that promotes your store in exchange for a commission. Affiliates can be influencers, bloggers, loyal customers, or brand ambassadors.

**Program**

Your affiliate program is the container that holds all your settings, like commission rates, payout rules, signup form, and terms. You can run one program or multiple programs targeting different affiliate types.

**Commission**

The amount or percentage an affiliate earns when they successfully refer a paying customer. Yuko supports flat-rate, percentage-based, tiered, and recurring commission structures.

**Referral Link**

A unique URL is assigned to each affiliate. When a customer clicks this link and places an order, Yuko attributes the sale to that affiliate automatically.

**Discount Code**

An optional coupon code tied to an affiliate. Customers get a discount at checkout, and the sale is attributed to the affiliate who shared the code.

**Affiliate Portal**

A dedicated dashboard where your affiliates can log in to see their referral links, track their clicks and conversions, and view their commission earnings.

**Payout**

The payment you send to an affiliate for their earned commissions. You control when payouts are processed and what the minimum threshold is.

***

### What You Can Build with Yuko

* A public affiliate program open to anyone who applies
* A private program with invite-only access for select partners
* A tiered program where top performers earn higher commissions
* A recurring commission program for subscription-based products

***

### Platform Requirements

* Yuko works exclusively with **Shopify** stores (Basic plan and above)
* No developer setup required, installs in one click from the Shopify App Store
* Works with all Shopify themes

# Quickstart

This guide walks you through everything from installing Yuko to your first approved affiliate sharing their link. Please follow the steps in order.

{% hint style="info" %}

#### **Before we start**

Make sure you have:

* An active Shopify store (any paid plan)
* Admin access to your Shopify account to install the app.
  {% endhint %}

### Step 1 — Install Yuko on Shopify

* Go to the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com) and search for [**Yuko Affiliate Marketing**](https://apps.shopify.com/affiliate-marketing-afflr).
* Click **Install.**
* You'll be redirected to your Shopify admin. Click **Install app** to authorize Yuko.
* You'll land on the Yuko dashboard inside your Shopify admin.

> **Note:** Yuko requests access to orders, customers, and discount codes. This is required for tracking referrals and generating affiliate discount codes.

***

### Step 2 — Enabling the theme app extension

This ensures Afflr works correctly on your store theme.

1. **Enable Extension (Dashboard Method)**

From the Afflr dashboard, enable the extension, copy the Afflr key, open the theme editor, paste the key, and save the theme to activate Afflr.

2. **Enable Extension (Alternate Method)**

When switching themes, enable Afflr again via **Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds**. Turn on Afflr-Extension, paste the Afflr key, and save the theme.

We can now move forward with configuring your affiliate program.

***

### Step 3 — Create Your Affiliate Program

* From the Yuko dashboard, Programs -> click **Add Program**.
* Give your program a name (e.g., *Yuko Partner Program* or your brand name).
* Choose a **commission type**:
  * **Percentage** — Affiliates earn a % of each order (e.g., 10%)
  * **Flat rate** — Affiliates earn a fixed amount per order (e.g., $5)
* Enter your commission rate.
* **Enable '**Referral Tracking Method'
  * **Referral Code** — Affiliate gets a unique discount code that customers apply at checkout
  * **Unique Safe Link** — Affiliate gets a trackable URL that attributes sales automatically
* **Customer Discount:** Set the discount your customers receive when using an affiliate's code, percentage, or fixed amount.
* Click **Save & Continue**.

> **Tip:** If you're unsure what commission rate to set, 10–20% is a common starting range for e-commerce stores. You can always adjust this later.

***

### Step 3 — Customize Your Signup Page

Your signup page is where potential affiliates apply to join your program. Yuko auto-generates one for you.

1. Go to **Widgets → Sign-up form.**
2. Add your logo and a short description of your program.
3. Optionally add program highlights (e.g., *"Earn 15% on every sale, get paid monthly"*).
4. Click **Save**.

Your signup page is now live at: `yourstorename.myshopify.com/pages/affiliates`

***

### Step 4 — Configure Affiliate Approvals

Affiliate approvals in Yuko are **manual;** every application is reviewed by you and approved or rejected from the dashboard. This gives you full control over who represents your brand.

* Go to **Programs → click 'View'**.
* Under the Affiliates section, review the pending application.
* Click **Approve or Reject**.

> **Auto-enroll customers:** If you want existing customers to automatically join your affiliate program after making a purchase, enable **Automatically enroll customers in the referral program upon purchase** under **Settings**. Enrolled customers are added to the program you select there.

***

### Step 5 — Invite Your First Affiliate

You're ready to bring in your first affiliate. You have two options:

**Option A — Share your signup link.** You can copy your sign-up page URL and share it with anyone you want to invite; send it via email or DM, or post it on your social channels.

**Option B — Add an affiliate manually**

1. Go to **Program → click 'View' -> Add affiliate**
2. Enter their name, email address, edit the referral code, and select the program you want them in.
3. They will receive the email with their unique link and their affiliate code.

***

### Step 6 — Verify Tracking is Working

Before you announce your program widely, do a quick test:

1. Go to **Affiliates** and open any approved affiliate's profile.
2. Copy their referral link.
3. Open it in a private/incognito browser window.
4. Complete a test purchase on your store.
5. Return to Yuko and go to **Programs -> click 'View' -> Sales**.
6. You should see the test order attributed to that affiliate.

If the order appears, you're live.

> **If the order doesn't appear:** Make sure the order is in the paid order status, or [**contact support**](mailto:contact@afflr.on.crisp.email)

***

### You're Live

Your affiliate program is now running. Here's what to do next:

* **Set up payouts** — Configure when and how you pay affiliates under **Payouts → Payment methods**
* **Customize the affiliate portal** — Make it on-brand under **Widget → Affiliate portal (Customer Account)**
* **Set up email notifications** — Let affiliates know when they earn a commission under **Settings → Email**
* **Promote your program** — Share your signup link widely to grow your affiliate base

# Programs

Learn how to start affiliate marketing program

Yuko lets you create and manage one or more affiliate programs tailored to your business goals. You can define commission structures, set customer discounts, configure referral tracking, and control affiliate approvals, all from a single program setup.

***

### Creating a Program

* Go to **Programs** in your Yuko dashboard
* Click **Add Program**
* Fill in the program details as described below

***

### Program Details

#### Title & Description

**Title** Give your program a clear, recognizable name that affiliates will see on the signup form.

> Example: *Give 10%, Get 10%*

**Description** *(optional)* Briefly explain what affiliates will earn and what customers get.

> Example: *Offer your affiliates a 10% commission for the sales they bring and a 10% discount for their referrals.*

***

### Affiliate Commission Type

Choose how affiliates earn from each sale they refer.

#### Simple Commission

A straightforward fixed or percentage-based reward applied to every qualifying order.

* **Percentage** — Affiliate earns a % of the order total (e.g., 10%)
* **Fixed Amount** — Affiliate earns a set amount per order (e.g., $5)

**Enable Recurring Commission** *(optional)* Check this to allow affiliates to earn on repeat purchases made by the same customer — not just the first order. Ideal for subscription-based stores.

***

#### Tiered Commission

Reward affiliates with higher commission rates as their performance grows. Tiers are unlocked based on one of the following:

| Tier Metric                    | Description                              |
| ------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------- |
| **Total referral sales** | Total revenue generated by the affiliate |
| **Number of successful sales** | Count of completed orders referred |
| **Total referrals** | Number of customers referred |

Click **Add Tier** to define each level and its corresponding commission rate.

***

#### Commission Rules *(Advanced)*

Commission Rules let you go beyond a single flat rate, rewarding your best affiliates more, or boosting commissions on the products that matter most to your business. Rules stack on top of your base commission and are applied automatically to qualifying sales.

Click **+ Add Rule** and select the rule type:

**Specific Affiliates:** Give select affiliates a higher commission on top of the base rate, perfect for rewarding VIP partners, top performers, or influencers you want to incentivize more. Select the affiliates the rule applies to, set the commission type and rate, and optionally define a start and end date.

**Specific Products / Collections:** Drive sales of particular products by offering a boosted commission only when those items are purchased. Choose the products or collections, set the commission type and rate, and optionally define a start and end date, ideal for new launches, overstocked items, or high-margin products.

Once saved, rules run automatically, no manual tracking or adjustments needed.

***

### Referral Tracking Method

Choose how Yuko links a sale back to the affiliate who drove it.

| Method               | How it works                                                                                 |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Referral Code** | Each affiliate receives a unique discount code. Customers apply it at checkout. |
| **Unique Safe Link** | Each affiliate receives a unique URL. Clicks are tracked and sales attributed automatically. |

> **Tip:** Referral codes are recommended for most stores. They work across browsers and devices, and give customers a visible discount incentive to complete their purchase.

### Customer Discount

Configure the discount customers receive when they use an affiliate's referral code at checkout.

**Discount Type**

* **Percentage** — e.g., 10% off the order total
* **Fixed Amount** — e.g., $10 off
* **Shipping discount**

**Settings**

| Option                            | Description                                                          |
| --------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Limit to one use per customer** | Prevents the same customer from using the code multiple times |
| **Applies to** | All products, or specific collections/products |
| **Customer eligibility** | All customers, or specific segments |
| **Minimum purchase requirement** | Require a minimum order value before the discount applies |
| **Limit total usage** | Cap the total number of times the code can be used |
| **Combinations** | Allow the code to combine with product, order, or shipping discounts |
| **Expiry days** | Set an expiration date on the discount code |

***

### Additional Settings

#### Automatic Approval *(optional)*

Enable this to automatically approve any affiliate who submits the signup form, no manual review required.

{% hint style="warning" %}
When automatic approval is enabled, anyone who registers will instantly receive their unique referral link or code. Use this only if you do not need to vet your affiliates before they start promoting.
{% endhint %}

#### Limit Payout Options *(optional)*

Restrict which payout methods are available for affiliates in this specific program. Select the allowed payment methods from the dropdown.

This is useful when running different programs with different payout structures, for example, a cash program via coupon and a store credit program for brand ambassadors.

***

### Affiliate Signup Form

**To embed the form on your store:**

1. In the right panel, click **Add to Theme**

***

Default fields include First Name, Last Name, and Email. You can add custom fields such as website URL, social media handle, or any other information relevant to your program.

3. Create a new page template based on the **Default** template and save it

Then create a page for this template:

7. Go to **Online Store → Pages** in your Shopify admin
8. Click **Add Page**
9. Give the page a title (e.g., *Become an Affiliate*)
10. Under the **template** section, select the template you just created
11. Set the visibility to **Visible** (not Hidden) so affiliates can access it
12. Optionally customize the page URL (e.g., `/pages/affiliates`)
13. Click **Save**

Create a menu in your store, and embed this page. Your signup form page is now live and can be shared with potential affiliates.

***

### Sharing the Form

You don't have to embed the form on your store to start collecting applications. You can share the form link anywhere:

* **Email campaigns** — include the link in a newsletter or direct outreach
* **Social media** — post it in your bio, stories, or community groups
* **Direct messages** — send it to influencers or customers you want to invite

> **Tip:** The sooner affiliates can find and submit the form, the faster your program grows. Embedding it on a dedicated page, like `/pages/affiliates` , and linking to it from your footer or navigation gives it maximum visibility.

# Safe Link Reward Popup

The Safe Link Reward Popup rewards customers who arrive at your store through an affiliate's **Unique Safe Link**. When such a visitor lands on your store, a popup automatically appears inviting them to enter their email, in return, they instantly receive a unique discount code.

This creates a strong incentive for customers to use the affiliate's link, increasing both click-to-conversion rates and the overall effectiveness of your affiliate program.

***

### How It Works

1. An affiliate shares their **Unique affiliate link** with their audience
2. A customer clicks the link and lands on your store
3. The **"Claim your reward!"** popup appears automatically
4. The customer enters their email and clicks **Claim Reward**
5. The popup switches to the **Reward Display** screen showing their unique discount code
6. The customer copies the code and applies it at checkout

> **Note:** The popup only appears for visitors who arrive through an affiliate's link. Customers arriving via referral codes or direct links will not see it.

***

### Enabling the Safe Link Reward Popup

The Safe Link Reward Popup is activated at the **program level,** not from the Widgets section directly.

1. Go to **Programs → Edit Program**
2. Under **Referral Tracking Method**, select **Unique Safe Link**
3. The popup is automatically enabled for all customers arriving via that affiliate's safe link

Once enabled, the widget will appear as **Enabled** in your Widgets dashboard.

***

### Customizing the Popup

Click **Customize** on the Safe Link Reward Popup widget to open the **Popup Editor**.

The editor has two sections on the left — **Content** and **Styles** — and a live preview on the right with two tabs: **Email Form** and **Reward Display**.

#### Content

**Email Form** Customize what visitors see when the popup first appears:

* Heading text (e.g., *Claim your reward!*)
* Body text (e.g., *Enter your email address to receive the reward.*)
* Button label (e.g., *Claim reward*)

**Reward Display** Customize what visitors see after they submit their email and receive their code:

* Heading text (e.g., *Your reward!*)
* Body text (e.g., *Here is your coupon code*)
* The discount code is displayed automatically with a copy button
* A **Continue Shopping** button to send them back to browsing

#### Styles

Customize the visual appearance of the popup:

* Colors — background, text, button
* Typography — font size and weight
* Border radius and spacing

Use the **Preview** tabs to review both screens — **Email Form** and **Reward Display** — before saving.

#### Enable Coupon Payouts

1. In your Yuko dashboard, go to **Settings → Payments**
2. Enable **Coupon Payouts**
3. Configure the following:

### Store Credit Payouts

Store Credit allows affiliates to redeem their earned commissions as credits for future purchases in your store — a great way to keep affiliates engaged as customers too.

#### Enable Store Credit

* In your Yuko dashboard, go to **Settings → Payments**
* Enable **Store Credit**
* Configure the following:
  * **Minimum payout threshold**

#### Record an Offline Payment

1. Go to **Payouts → Balance**
2. Select the affiliate you want to pay
3. Click **Record Payment**
4. Review the payout details
5. Complete the entry

> **Note:** Offline payouts only record the transaction inside Yuko for tracking purposes. The actual payment to the affiliate must be made by you through your preferred external method.

### Commission Settings

Configure how commissions are approved and how commission amounts are calculated for each sale.

#### Commission Approval Settings

Choose when a commission is approved after a sale is made:

| Option                           | Description                                                                                                        |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Automatic — Immediate** | Commission is approved instantly as soon as the sale is recorded |
| **Automatic — Delayed (X days)** | Commission is held for a set number of days before being approved, useful to account for returns or refund windows |
| **Manual** | You review and approve each commission individually from the Commissions tab |

> **Tip:** Using a delayed approval period that matches your refund policy (e.g., 14 or 30 days) ensures you don't pay commission on orders that later get returned.

#### Commission Calculation Settings

Choose what is included in the order value when calculating a commission:

| Option                         | Description                                                                                   |
| ------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Without Taxes & Shipping** | Commission is calculated on the product subtotal only — taxes and shipping costs are excluded |
| **Including Taxes** | Taxes are included in the order value used for commission calculation |
| **Including Shipping** | Shipping costs are included in the order value |
| **Including Taxes & Shipping** | Both taxes and shipping are included in the calculation |

### Referral Marketing Automation

Automatically turn customers into affiliates after they make a purchase, without requiring them to fill out a signup form.

#### Automatically Enroll Customers in the Referral Program Upon Purchase

When this toggle is enabled, every customer who completes a purchase is automatically enrolled in your selected affiliate program. They receive their unique referral link via email immediately after their order is confirmed.

**To enable:**

1. Toggle **Automatically enroll customers in the referral program upon purchase** to on
2. Select the program that new customers will be enrolled in
3. Click **Save**

> **Note:** Customers enrolled this way are added directly as approved affiliates, no application review required.

***

### Fraud Prevention

Protect your program from self-referrals and commission abuse with built-in fraud prevention rules.

#### Block Self-Referral Using Email

Prevents a commission from being granted if the customer placing the order uses the same email address as the affiliate who referred them.

Enable this to stop affiliates from earning commissions on their own purchases.

#### Block Self-Referral Using IP

Prevents a commission from being granted if the customer and the affiliate share the same IP address at the time of the purchase.

Enable this for an additional layer of self-referral protection, particularly useful when email alone may not be sufficient.

> **Tip:** It is recommended to enable both email and IP self-referral blocking for maximum fraud protection. However, turn off this while testing.

***

### Advanced Settings

#### Enable Affiliate Sale Tag

When enabled, Yuko automatically tags affiliate-driven orders in Shopify with the label **Affiliate Sale - Afflr**. This makes it easy to filter and identify affiliate orders directly from your Shopify Orders dashboard without opening Yuko.

#### Affiliate Code Customization

Choose how referral codes are automatically generated when a new affiliate joins your program:

| Option                     | Description                                                                            |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **First Name** | Referral code is based on the affiliate's first name with a random alphanumeric suffix |
| **Last Name** | Referral code is based on the affiliate's last name with a random alphanumeric suffix |
| **First Name + Last Name** | Referral code combines both names with a random alphanumeric suffix |
| **Random Identifier** | A fully random alphanumeric code is generated; no name is used |

> **Note:** Regardless of the format chosen, each generated code is unique. You can always override the auto-generated code by editing the affiliate manually.

# Make Integration

Make (formerly Integromat) is a powerful visual automation platform that lets you connect Yuko with thousands of apps and services. Unlike simple linear automations, Make lets you build complex multi-step workflows with conditional logic, filters, and data transformations, all without writing code.

***

### Why Use Make with Yuko?

Make allows you to automate repetitive tasks triggered by affiliate events in Yuko and connect them to any tool in your stack.

**Examples of what you can automate:**

* Add a new affiliate to your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce) when they are approved in Yuko
* Send a Slack or Discord notification when a new affiliate application is received
* Add affiliate data to a Google Sheet whenever a commission is earned
* Trigger a welcome email sequence in Mailchimp or Klaviyo when a new affiliate joins
* Log payout records to an accounting tool like QuickBooks or Xero automatically

***

### Setting Up the Make Integration

#### Step 1 — Create a New Scenario in Make

1. Log in to your Make account at [make.com](https://make.com)
2. Click **Create a new scenario**
3. In the scenario editor, click the **+** button to add a module
4. Search for and select **Webhooks**

#### Step 2 — Set Up a Custom Webhook

1. From the Webhooks module options, select **Custom webhook** as the trigger
2. Click **Add** to create a new webhook
3. Give it a name (e.g., *Yuko Webhook*)
4. Click **Save**
5. Make will generate a unique **webhook URL,** copy it

#### Step 3 — Connect the Webhook to Yuko

1. In your Yuko dashboard, go to **Settings → Integrations**
2. Find the **Make** integration
3. Paste the **webhook URL** you copied from Make into the provided field
4. Toggle **Enable** to on
5. Click **Save**

#### Step 4 — Complete the Scenario in Make

1. Return to your Make scenario
2. Click **Run once,** this puts Make into listening mode, waiting for a test event
3. Trigger a test event from Yuko (e.g., adding an affiliate)
4. Make will receive the data and confirm the webhook is working
5. Add the next module in your scenario to define what action to take (e.g., send an email, update a sheet, post to Slack)
6. Turn on your scenario using the toggle at the bottom left

***

### Once Connected

Once your Make integration is active, Yuko will send event data to your webhook URL whenever affiliate activity occurs. Your Make scenario will pick it up and trigger the automated actions you've configured.

You can build and manage multiple scenarios for different events, new affiliate signups, commission approvals, payout requests, and more.

> **Tip:** Use Make's built-in filters and routers to handle different event types within a single scenario, keeping your automations clean and organized.
