# 5. How do you customize the referral code after generation?

You can customize the referral code to tailor it for the business or the affiliate using Afflr. This will not only add a personal touch to the referral code but also promote your brand. 

To customize the referral code, 

* Go to Afflr Dashboard, select Affiliates -> Click the Edit button near the Affiliate name.
* Scroll down and click the Change button adjacent to the referral code tab

* A Change referral code dialog box appears where you can edit the code and then click Change&#x20;

Customize the referral code according to your needs. The code should consist of 4 to 6 characters, allowing a combination of both numbers and letters.
